Botanicals List
At Alchemy we celebrate Africa’s botanical heritage by creating potent, all‑natural skincare that blends ancestral wisdom with modern formulation. Each product is crafted from carefully selected botanicals — including baobab, marula, Rooibos and Clay — chosen for their nourishing properties and cultural significance. We are committed to ethical sourcing, sustainable practices and full ingredient transparency.

Baobab Oil
Adansonia digitata (INCI: Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil)
Baobab is a vitamin-rich oil prized for its lightweight but deeply
nourishing texture. Cold-pressed from the seeds of the baobab tree,
it helps replenish lipids and supports skin comfort and suppleness.
We source baobab from trusted smallholder cooperatives that
harvest sustainably to protect tree populations and local ecosystems.

Marula Oil
Marula oil is a fast-absorbing, antioxidant-rich oil traditionally used
across southern Africa. Its gentle, nourishing profile makes it ideal for
restoring skin softness and resilience. Our marula is ethically sourced
from regional growers who use low-impact extraction methods to
preserve potency and quality.

Jojoba Oil
Technically a liquid wax ester, jojoba closely mimics human
sebum, so it absorbs easily, moisturizes without feeling greasy, and
helps balance oil production. It’s non-comedogenic, stable (long shelf
life) and excellent as a carrier oil, makeup remover, or daily
moisturizer for most skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone
skin.

Frankincense
The tree resin and its essential oil are valued for a
calming, grounding aroma and for topical skin support. Compounds in
frankincense can help soothe skin, promote a more even tone, and
contribute to the appearance of firmness and reduced visibility of fine
lines and scars. As an essential oil it should be diluted before skin use
and used primarily for aromatherapy and small topical applications.

Activated charcoal
Processed charcoal (activated) has a very
porous surface that adsorbs oils, impurities and certain toxins, which
makes it excellent for clarifying facial masks, pore-clearing
treatments, water filtration and some oral applications. In cosmetics it
helps lift dirt and reduce surface oil and blackheads, though it can be
drying, so it’s best paired with hydrating ingredients.

Kaolin Clay
A very gentle, fine white clay that cleanses by
absorbing mild excess oil and removing surface impurities withoutover-stripping the skin. Because it’s soft and non-abrasive it’s ideal
for sensitive or dry skin, and it’s commonly used in masks, cleansers
and powdered cosmetics to provide gentle mattifying and soothing
benefits.
